Ceiling Fan Installation: What Can Go Wrong?

<_>

Ahh, the warm, slower days of summer are almost upon us. Planning out your vacation time already?

Does it involve a lazy afternoon with nothing but a book and a drink in hand?

How about a cool breeze to help chase away the most intense heat of the day?

Then it’s time to install a ceiling fan.Ceiling Fan Installation: What Can Go Wrong?

Ceiling fans come in all shapes and sizes. They come in a variety of styles. They can be installed inside and out.

They’re perfect for every room in your home.

But if you try and install it yourself, you may face a few problems. Ceiling fan installation isn’t as easy as it may first seem. If you’re installing it in your room for the first time, it may be a job better left to the professionals. After all, a lot can go wrong.

You Install It At The Wrong Height

Ceilings 8 feet or lower should have a flush mount. Ceilings higher than 8 feet may need a rod to extend the ceiling fan down into a home’s airspace. Ceiling fans are designed for optimal use at 8 to 9 feet off the floor. Anything more than that won’t provide you with the results you’re looking for.

You Install It, And The Pull Chain Doesn’t Work

If the pull chain doesn’t work, it’s usually a sign that the motor capacitor isn’t working, or the switch may be bad. It may also be a sign that the wiring is loose.

Your Lights Don’t Work

If the light bulbs that came with the kit and replacing them don’t work, what’s wrong? It could be as simple as checking the light bulbs to ensure you are using the correct ones. Not all light bulbs are designed for ceiling fan use. If you notice sockets burned or charred, there may be a short in the system. It could also be a sign the wiring is incorrect.
