How To Recycle LED Bulbs

<_>

In the past, when your fluorescent bulbs would burn out, recycling them was your best solution. Thanks to technology and innovation, LED bulbs are quickly taking over and becoming the norm for lighting our homes and businesses.

High quality LED bulbs have an average life expectancy of 50,000 hours. Depending on how much you use them, they can last for a decade or longer. But like all light bulbs, LED bulbs will eventually wear out.How To Recycle LED Bulbs

The good news is LED bulbs don’t contain mercury like incandescent bulbs. That means recycling them is easier and safer.

Yet it’s still important to recycle them and keep them out of the landfill whenever you can.

If you’re trying to get rid of burned out LED bulbs, start by contacting your local recycling center.

The Georgia Recycling Coalition has a number of resources for turning in used bulbs; contact a resource near you to find out if they accept LED. Each resource may have its own protocol for how they prefer bulbs to be returned, so it’s important to contact them before trying to return the product.

You can also often return the LED bulb directly to where you bought it. Check with your hardware store or big box store and see if they have a program for recycling. Even stores like Ikea have on-site recycling programs because the materials are expensive, and it’s easier for them to dispose of them in the proper manner.

If you haven’t converted your home or office to LED lighting yet, the potential savings is enormous. Whether you’re upgrading your lighting to save money, or are looking for new ways to light your space efficiently, we have solutions. We’re happy to perform an energy audit and show you how you can start saving today.
